Transatlantic Day 3

The wind died down and kept going down. Then we were only sailing in 8 knots of wind. I emailed with Denys from Sarayu and though they were only 11 miles from us they were having the best of everything. The wind was hauling, the fish were biting, like I said, everything.

I took the ol’ gennaker back out for another attempt. I checked it over with the rest of crew on the deck. It had 2 small tears in the one piece of fabric that wasn’t reinforced. I decided that it wasn’t critical and the tear was superficial. It took all of is to haul it up. Since it was partially unfurled even with a light wind it has enough force to pull a boat or throw a human overboard. With enough effort we were able to deploy it properly and drop the main.
